SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 9

Dittmar, Blatnik, Jones, Macnaughtan,
Burdette, Mr. President, and Ross)
Requesting Congress to provide matching funding on a priority
basis to upgrade West Virginia Route 2 to a four-lane
highway between Chester and Huntington.
Whereas, Between the cities of Chester, Hancock County, and
Huntington, Cabell County, are important cities and communities
which are vital to the economic, industrial and cultural life of
this state; and
Whereas, The economic stability of each of these cities and
communities could be greatly enhanced by the construction of a
four-lane highway connecting Chester to Huntington; and
Whereas, Access to an improved job market, the stability of
business and industry and accessibility between these cities and
communities would be greatly enhanced; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That Congress is hereby requested to provide matching
funding on a priority basis to upgrade West Virginia Route 2 to
a four-lane highway between Chester and Huntington; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the Senate is hereby
directed to forward a copy of this resolution to West Virginia'scongressional delegation.
